LANGBANK COMMUNITY COUNCIL

 

MEETING HELD ON 13 NOVEMBER 2002.

 

PRESENT:‑ Mr N. Barrington, Mr E.Bell, Mrs J. Hunter, Ms. D. McLean, Mr I. Reid.

 

ATTENDING:‑ Councillor M. Anderson, Mr R. Pringle, Mr.J. Hunter, P.C.T. Gemmill.

1. MINUTES. The minutes of the previous meeting were agreed.

 

2. POLICE REPORT. There had been three recorded crimes since the last meeting.

 1. Car break in. 2. Burglary at cottage in East Finlaystone. 3. Break in at Langbank Lodge.

Following the disturbance caused by youths last weekend Police will be present in the village this weekend. Ian to check with Brian Wallace why Neighbourhood Watch members were not alerted via the grid system. The Nissan Micra is still abandoned at the west end of Main Road.

 

3. PLANNING. Renfrewshire Council had rejected the planning application for ground adjacent to East Lodge Houston Road.

 

4. JAPANESE KNOTWEED. This has been cut back again but yet again not sprayed. The position will be monitored.

 

5. OUTFALL SEWER. No word has been received from Scottish Water on the start of work for the sewer extension to Port Glasgow. Work has since been done on bore excavations at the west end of the village. The site however has been left in a poor state.

 

6. STREET CLEANING. Ian to contact John Gilmour, Environmental Services, to arrange a meeting  to discuss a timetable for street cleaning.

 

7. DOG FOULING AND LITTERING. It has been difficult to obtain information from Renfrewshire Council on the success of the joint protocol between the police and the council on the above topic.

 

8. REPRESENTATION ON PARK MAINS SCHOOL BOARD. Ian to contact S.Smith chair of the School Board to resolve this issue.

 

9. MISSING GRIT BINS STATION ROAD/HELENSLEA ROAD. Information is still awaited from Iain Hamilton, Head of Roads, Renfrewshire Council.

 

10. VISIT OF JIM SHERIDAN M.P. The local M.P. is still expected at the next meeting.

 

11. BUSES THROUGH LANGBANK /ELECTRICITY FAILURES. Ted and S. McNicol have written to SPT .re the non availability of buses in Langbank. Ted will write to Scottish Power on recent electricity failures.

 

12. TRAINING /ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES. Neil and Ian will attend the training session by Environmental Services on 27 November 2002.

 

13. VOLCANO GROUP. It is thought that the National Playing Field Association may oversee the work on the Playing Field but the field itself will remain in council ownership.

 

 14. 2OMPH. SPEED LIMIT AROUND SCHOOL. This limit is likely to be imposed fairly soon.

 

15. COMMUNITY COUNCIL FORUM. Neil will attend the next meeting of the forum on 28 November 2002.

 

16. NEW MEMBERS.  We must attempt to recruit new members.
