LANGBANK COMMUNITY COUNCIL.

 

MINUTES OF MEETING HELD ON 9 OCTOBER 2002.

 

 

PRESENT:‑ Mr N. Barrington, Mrs G. Harkness, Mrs J. Hunter, Mr E. Bell, Ms D McLean, Mr I. Reid.

 

ALSO PRESENT:‑ Councillor M. Anderson, Sgt.G. High, P.C. T. Gemmill.

 

APOLOGIES:‑ Mr B. Southwood, Mrs.G. Fleming, Mr.D. Rodwell, Mr.D. Brunton, Mr F. Simpson.

 

1. MINUTES. The minutes of the previous meeting were agreed.

 

2. POLICE REPORT. There had been five recorded crimes since the last meeting.
1. A trailer stolen from Drums. 2. Quadbike stolen from Bogside Farm. 3. A vehicle broken into at the station. 4. Speeding on Main Road. 5. Tools removed from the St Vincent site.

One of the two abandoned cars has been removed from the Main Road. P.C. Gemmill to expedite the removal of the second vehicle.

 

3. PLANNING. There were no new planning applications but concerns were again expressed about traffic on Middlepenny Road and the effects of the house being built on the wedge site. It is understood that the traffic lights will be installed when the St Vincents development is completed.

 

4. REGISTERED WEED. Amey have again cut back the Japanese Knot weed on the Main Road.

 

5. OUTFALL SEWER TO PORT GLASGOW.  No further progress.

 

6. DOG FOULING. Marion explained that she and a colleague were going to raise the question of both dog fouling and littering at the next meeting of Renfrewshire Council.

 

7. PARK MAINS SCHOOL BOARD. There had been a misunderstanding at the last meeting and Neil, not Deirdre, agreed to attend the Board meetings.

 

8. GRIT BINS. Marion had questioned where the missing grit bins were and the points were still being investigated.

 

9. JIM SHERIDAN M.P. The M.P. was unable to attend this meeting but is likely to come along in December.

 

10. FREE BUS FARES/ELECTRICITY FAILURES. Ted stated that he was prepared to write to Strathclyde Passenger Transport on the free fare situation as no buses run through Langbank and also to Scottish Power on the recent spate of power cuts.

 

11. VILLAGE AFFAIRS. Houston Road has been partially resurfaced. Bollards have been erected on Main Road near the turn off to Middlepenny. The trees have been cut back on Station Road and a short length of fence erected. The Village Notice Board has been moved to outside the shop. Marion has received some information concerning the fire at the school but some questions remain unanswered.

 

12. VILLAGE HALL A.G.M. This meeting is scheduled for Thursday 14 November at 6.30pm.

 

13. VOLCANO GROUP. The Volcano group and Marion Anderson are having a meeting with Bernard Forteath, Director of Environmental Services, on 6 November 2002. The topic is the future of the Playing Field.

 

14. ELECTION OF OFFICE BEARERS. There were no nominations and the existing incumbents agreed to continue in office. Renewed attempts will be made to recruit new members. Gloria has submitted the accounts and the grant is awaited.
