MINUTES OF
MEETING HELD ON 11 SEPTEMBER 2002.

1.
MINUTES. The minutes of the previous
meeting were agreed.
2.
POLICE REPORT. There had been 15
crimes committed since the date of the last meeting of which 11 had been
detected. 9 of the reported crimes were for motoring offences. The two abandoned
cars were still on Main Road. P.C.Gernmill will expedite.
There
was an exhaustive discussion on the possibility of traffic calming on the Main
Road.
3.
PLANNING MATTERS. It was confirmed
that the Scottish Executive had rejected the planning appeal from Harper,
Houston Road and had upheld the appeal from Mitchell, Undercraig.
It
was agreed that the Community Council would object to the proposed development
in the Green Belt near East Lodge.
4.
REGISTERED WEED. Amey have cut back
the Japanese Knot weed on the north side of Main Road but already it is growing
back at a fast rate. Ian Reid will contact Amey again.
5.
OUTFALL SEWER TO PORT GLASGOW.
Gordon Davie and his team gave a presentation on the current position. There
will now be only one Pumping Station at the west end of the village.The work
will neither improve or worsen the flooding situation. It is not yet known when
the work will start but it will certainly be before 2005. When work commences
it will take around six months. Scottish Water will be represented at the next
presentation.
6.
DOGGY BIN / LITTER BIN. These will
be requested in the new financial year as Local Fund finances are exhausted. It
was agreed that comment should be made about dog fouling in the next
Newsletter.
7.
ERSKINE HIGH SCHOOL BOARD. It was
again confirmed that Deirdre would attend the School Board meetings.
8.
GRIT BINS. Marion agreed to query
why the grit bins at the bottom of Station Road and at Helenslea had been
removed.
9.
MPs VISIT. Jim Sheridan will attend
the next meeting.
10.
A.G.M. The next meeting held on
9 October 2002 will be the A.G.M.
