Minutes of the Meeting held on the 9th of May 2001

Police Report.

 

4 recorded crimes - all theft related (2 months) PC Gemmell was asked to make enquiries regarding the ownership of the abandoned car left outside the Lodge .

Update on Langbank Pumping Stations and Rising Main (Presentation by Mr Andrew Mortali and Mr R Kearney)

 

Langbank is no longer included in the Community Scheme; it is now part of the WOSW extension to Port Glasgow, Greenock and Gourock. Has to be completed by December 2005 to comply with European legislation. Langbank identified as First Phase because of present facilities. Site selection carried out by independent surveyor. Three options have been identified - final decision still to be made. Outline of programme - Tenders November 2001 Construction Start February 2002 Construction Complete February 2003 Estimated cost - £860,000 Possible routing of surface water away from Playing Field. Further investigations and liaison to take place. Consultations with Planning Authority, SEPA, Community Council and other interested parties. Minutes of Meeting due on April 14th 2001

 

No meeting was held in April.

Registered Weed

 

This has been sprayed. Renfrewshire Council Environmental Services say it is the responsibility of the Scottish Executive. Marion Anderson is waiting for a reply from Roads and Transport. Problem appears to be between Renfrewshire Council and Scottish Executive.

Internet Café.

 

Appears to be going very well and is very popular with the teenagers in the village. Community Council has received a letter of thanks for the donation..

 

6.

St Vincent's Development

 

Second phase of the housing has commenced and the buildings seem to be higher than expected.

 

7.

Playing Field Wall

 

Ian Reid to speak to Colin McLellan regarding the repair of the wall in Station Road.

 

8.

Play Area - Middlepenny Road

 

Marion Anderson has made enquiries and was told by relevant department that the equipment was going to be replaced. Neil Barrington will inform the group of parents involved.

Village Hall

 

Village Hall Committee to hold a meeting on May 10th 2001. Neil Barrington will contact Henry Gray to find out what is on the agenda. Deidre McLean can attend.

Doggy Bins
 

Letter was received from Trish Godman, MSP for West Renfrewshire. Apparently, she had read previous minutes and had sent "Survey on Behaviour of Dogs".

Community Service
 

Areas where work is needed still have to be prioritised.

Station Road
 

Neil Barrington has discussed the issue of access to Elmbank, Station Rd, Seath & Douglas Avenue with Port Glasgow Fire Station and there is not a problem as their appliances can go under the bridge at the station. Marion Anderson will make enquiries to WOSW with regard to proposals for installing new water mains to Gleddoch.

AOCB

Damage to property at the bottom of Middlepenny Road - Renfrewshire Council has been in touch with the owner.

Village Clean-Up Day was well attended - 24 adults and 18 children took part. Winning tickets No. 49 (adult) and No. 42 (child) not claimed. Names drawn instead Adult winner - Mr Brian Wallace, Child winner - Alexandra Linn.

Ian Reid has to have comments regarding the proposals for Community Councils by May 11th 2001 if a response is going to be made.
